A three-day plan for a family weekend in Castle Rock: outdoor adventure, local shopping, and places to eat.
Castle Rock has enough for a weekend away: time outdoors, local shopping and things for families to do. Here's a plan for a 3-day visit.
Day 1: Downtown
Start with a walk through historic downtown. Look in the boutiques on Perry Street, get coffee at Lost Coffee and browse the local shops. The Emporium sells locally made gifts and Colorado souvenirs.
Day 2: Outdoors
Go to Philip S. Miller Park and climb the Challenge Hill staircase: 200 steps, with wide views from the top. Walk some of the park's miles of trails, look in at the Miller Activity Complex and let children loose on the adventure playground. Bring a picnic and eat with the Front Range in view.
Day 3: Shopping and dinner
Spend the last day at the Outlets at Castle Rock, an open-air outlet center with stores for outdoor gear, clothing and more. End the trip with dinner at Union American Bistro or Rockyard Brewing.
